The Constitutional Court (MK) has held hearings regarding disputes over the 2024 Election results since Wednesday, March 27, 2024. These disputes were filed by numerous election participants, ranging from presidential and vice-presidential candidates to legislative (DPR/DPRD) and regional representative council (DPD) candidates.
According to a Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey, the majority, or 69.5%, of respondents believe that the MK is capable of resolving the 2024 election disputes fairly. This comprises 11.6% of respondents who are very confident, and 57.9% who are confident.
"This public trust and belief serves as social capital for the MK to be able to produce decisions that are truly based on evidence and facts," wrote a Kompas Litbang researcher in their report on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
On the other hand, 28.2% of respondents are not confident that the MK can fairly resolve the 2024 election disputes. This breaks down into 23.7% who are not confident, and 4.5% who are very unconvinced.
This survey also recorded public opinion regarding the ethical violations committed by the former Chief Justice of the MK, Anwar Usman. Previously, Anwar Usman was found to have violated ethics by the MK's Honorary Council and was dismissed from his position as Chief Justice, as he was deemed to have acted unethically in the decision regarding the minimum age limit for vice-presidential candidates.
A total of 61.4% of respondents believe that Anwar Usman's ethical violation will impact the MK's ability to fairly resolve the 2024 election disputes. Meanwhile, 32.6% of respondents stated that the ethical violation would not impact the MK's performance, and 6% responded that they did not know.
This Kompas Litbang survey involved 505 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 Indonesian provinces. Data collection was conducted from March 18-20, 2024, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.36% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
