Tech giant Apple Inc. reached a market capitalization of US$3.027 trillion on July 4, 2023, equivalent to Rp45.434.5 trillion or Rp45.4 quadrillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp15,008 per US$). This marks the highest market capitalization in the company's history since its founding by Steve Jobs.
Looking back at 2022, Companies Market Cap reported an average annual market capitalization of US$2.06 trillion or Rp31.008 trillion (Rp31 quadrillion). This figure is down from the 2021 average market capitalization of US$2.9 trillion or Rp43.540 trillion (Rp43.5 quadrillion).
In 2020, the average market capitalization was US$2.25 trillion or Rp33.844 trillion (Rp33.8 quadrillion), an increase from the 2019 average of US$1.28 trillion or Rp19.316 trillion (Rp19.3 quadrillion).
These five years represent a golden age for Apple, with market capitalizations exceeding US$1 trillion. Before this period, its market capitalization ranged from US$200 billion to US$860 billion, as shown in the accompanying graph.
"As of July 2023, Apple boasts a market capitalization of US$3.027 trillion. This makes Apple the most valuable company in the world based on market capitalization, according to our data," Companies Market Cap stated on its website.
Companies Market Cap explains that market capitalization is the total market value of a publicly traded company's outstanding shares, commonly used to measure a company's size.
According to *CNN*, as reported by *Kompas.com*, the high market capitalization follows the announcement of the Apple Vision Pro launch and a better-than-expected quarterly earnings report, despite declining sales and profits.
The company plans to market the Apple Vision Pro next year.
Meanwhile, Apple's stock has surged 49% in 2023. This is driven by a broader surge in Big Tech stocks as investors show increasing interest in artificial intelligence (AI).
