Indonesian Rupiah Weakens to 15,614.5 per US Dollar (Tuesday, October 25, 2022)

As of 1:11 PM WIB today, the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) exchange rate in the spot market is trading at 15,614.5 per US dollar, based on data from Tuesday, October 25, 2022. This represents a 0.19% weakening compared to the previous day's closing rate of 15,585 per US dollar. The daily exchange rate is expected to range between 15,587 and 15,621.5.

According to Investing.com, the Rupiah in the spot market has weakened by 0.84% in the past week. Compared to 30 days ago, the spot rate has weakened by 4.27%.

However, over the past year, the spot exchange rate of the Rupiah has actually strengthened. The previous highest record reached 15,630 per US dollar.

From January to October 2022, the Rupiah in the spot market has weakened by 9.47% compared to the beginning of the year, when it was at 14,264 per US dollar.

The current Rupiah exchange rate is contrary to the trend of most regional currencies, which are strengthening against the US dollar.

This afternoon, according to Bank Indonesia's monitoring of major currencies, the South Korean Won strengthened by 12.41 points (-0.86%) to KRW 1,432.53 per US dollar; the Japanese Yen strengthened by 0.08 points (-0.05%); the Singapore Dollar weakened (+0.07%); the Euro strengthened by 0.0002 points (-0.01%); and the Chinese Yuan weakened by 0.01 points (+0.16%).
