Indonesian Rupiah Weakens to 15,597.5 per US Dollar (Thursday, December 22, 2022)

The Indonesian Rupiah exchange rate in the spot market today, as of 13:12 WIB, is traded at 15,597.5 per US dollar, data as of Thursday, December 22, 2022. This exchange rate weakened by 0.08% compared to the previous day's closing, which was traded at 15,585 per US dollar. The daily exchange rate movement is expected to be in the range of 15,565 - 15,607.5.

As shown on investing.com, the Rupiah exchange rate in the spot market has been under pressure, weakening by 0.05% in a week. Compared to 30 days ago, however, the Rupiah exchange rate in the spot market has strengthened by 0.4%.

However, for the year-to-date period, the Rupiah exchange rate in the spot market has actually weakened (strengthened). The previous highest record reached 15,740 per US dollar.

For the January-December 2022 period, the Rupiah exchange rate in the spot market weakened further, moving 9.35% compared to the beginning of the year, which was at 14,264 per US dollar.

The current Rupiah exchange rate condition is contrary to most regional currencies that are strengthening against the US dollar.

This afternoon, according to several major currencies monitored by Bank Indonesia, the South Korean Won strengthened by 5.32 points (-0.42%) to KRW 1,275.11 per US dollar, the Japanese Yen strengthened by 0.59 points (-0.45%), the Singapore Dollar strengthened by 0.0028 points (-0.21%), the Euro strengthened by 0.0033 points (-0.35%), and the Chinese Yuan strengthened by 0.0037 points (-0.05%).
