Astra International's First Semester 2017 Revenue Grew by 31 Percent

In the first half of 2017, Astra International recorded a 31.45 percent increase in net profit, reaching Rp 9.36 trillion from the same period the previous year. This growth was driven by an 11 percent increase in the company's revenue during the first six months of the year, reaching Rp 98.03 trillion from Rp 88.21 trillion.

The growth in the automotive market (cars and motorcycles), the recovery of commodity prices, increased coal and CPO production, and the positive contribution from Bank Permata, resulted in the ASII-coded issuer recording its highest growth since 2012.

Net profit from Astra's automotive subsidiaries grew by 9 percent to Rp 4.2 trillion, financial services surged by 62 percent to Rp 2.04 trillion. Heavy equipment and mining sectors saw an 83 percent increase, reaching Rp 2.06 trillion; the agribusiness sector grew by 32 percent to Rp 832 billion; and the property sector grew by 94 percent to Rp 68 billion. Meanwhile, the infrastructure and logistics sectors, and the information technology sector, declined by 21 percent and 25 percent respectively.
