The JCI Weakens After Bank Indonesia Holds Interest Rate (Wednesday, April 22, 2026)

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) or IHSG fell 0.24% to 7,541.61 at the close of trading on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

The decline occurred after Bank Indonesia (BI) announced that the BI-Rate reference interest rate would remain at 4.75%, the deposit facility rate would remain at 3.75%, and the lending facility rate would remain at 5.50%.

"This decision is still consistent with efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the strategy of adjusting the interest rate structure of monetary operation instruments in strengthening the stabilization of the rupiah from the impact of the deteriorating global economic conditions due to the war in the Middle East," said Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo at a press conference, as reported by Katadata.co.id.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, three sectors corrected today. The basic materials sector fell the most by 0.68%, followed by the energy sector, which fell 0.16%, and the property sector, which fell 0.03%.

Meanwhile, eight other sectors strengthened, with the transportation sector leading with a rise of 4.76%, followed by non-primary consumer goods, which rose 1.21%, and the industrial sector, which rose 1.14%.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trading today was 2.95 million transactions, with a total of 49.44 billion shares changing hands, and a transaction value of Rp18.15 trillion.

A total of 440 stocks closed higher today, while 240 stocks fell and 141 stocks stagnated.

The top losers today were KICI, which plummeted 14.91%, followed by DEFI and LCKM, which corrected by 14.60% and 10.26% respectively.

On the other hand, the COAL-coded issuer became the top gainer after rising 33.96%, followed by KOTA, which rose 29.52%, and BDMN, which rose 25%.

Asian stock markets closed mixed this afternoon. The Nikkei Index rose 0.40% to 59,585.86; the Hang Seng Index fell 1.22% to 26,163.24; the Shanghai Index rose 0.52% to 4,106.26; and the Strait Times Index fell 0.24% to 5,002.72.
