The Indonesian Stock Exchange Index (IHSG) Strengthened Amid a Slump in Asian Markets (Thursday, April 9, 2026)

The Indonesia Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) rose by 0.39% to 7,307.59 at the close of trading on Thursday (9/4/2026). The increase occurred amid a sluggish market in the Asian region.

This afternoon, the Nikkei Index fell by 0.73% to 55,895.32; the Hang Seng Index dropped by 0.54% to 25,752.40; the Shanghai Index declined by 0.72% to 3,966.17; and the Strait Times Index fell by 0.38% to 4,977.08.

"Asian stock markets were dominated by weakness, as oil prices rose slightly amid ongoing uncertainties regarding a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States and Israel," said Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, Maximilianus Nico Demus, as reported by Antara.

Based on the IDX-IC Sector Index, six stock sectors rose today. The non-primary consumer goods sector led with a 1.99% increase, followed by the energy and infrastructure sectors, which rose by 1.82% and 0.58% respectively.

Meanwhile, five other stock sectors declined. The financial sector fell the most by 1.23%, followed by the industrial and primary consumer goods sectors, which dropped by 0.69% and 0.58% respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trading today reached 2.24 million transactions, with a total of 29.05 billion shares changing hands, worth a total of Rp17.01 trillion.

A total of 374 stocks closed lower today, 278 stocks rose, and 164 stocks remained stagnant.

Today's top gainers were PEGE, which soared by 34.71%, followed by HDFA and ASPI, which rose by 34.07% and 25% respectively.

On the other hand, the stock with the code TEBE became the top loser after falling by 14.06%, followed by GSMF, which dropped by 10.57%, and SOSS, which corrected by 9.75%.
