The Jakarta Stock Exchange Index fell by 1% amid concerns about US trade tariffs (Thursday, February 26, 2026)

The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) fell by 1.04% to 8,235.26 at the close of trading on Thursday (26/2/2026).

According to Phintraco Securities Head of Research, Ratna Lim, today's index decline was influenced by negative sentiment regarding the United States' (US) plan to impose high import tariffs on solar cell and panel products imported from India, Indonesia, and Laos.

"The tariff concerns triggered a correction in the IHSG during Thursday's trading," said Ratna Lim, as reported by Antara.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, all or 11 stock sectors corrected today.

The transportation sector fell the most, by 4.54%, followed by the non-primary consumer goods sector and the infrastructure sector, which fell by 2.59% and 2.41% respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trading today was 3.14 million transactions, with a total of 56.53 billion shares changing hands, and a transaction value of Rp28.14 trillion.

A total of 568 stocks closed lower today, while 146 stocks rose and 105 stocks remained stagnant.

The top losers today were INDS, which plummeted by 14.95%, followed by SKBM and ARKO, which corrected by 14.88% and 14.82% respectively.

On the other hand, the stock with the code MSKY became the top gainer after soaring by 34.62%, followed by JAYA, which rose by 34.57%, and DIVA, which surged by 27.61%.

In line with the IHSG, most Asian stock markets weakened this afternoon. The Hang Seng Index fell by 1.44% to 26,381.02; the Shanghai Index fell by 0.01% to 4,146.63; the Strait Times fell by 0.87% to 4,964.38; while the Nikkei Index rose by 0.29% to 58,753.39.
