JCI Closed Lower After the Release of Economic Growth Data (Thursday, February 5, 2026)

The Jakarta Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) or IHSG fell by 0.53% to 8,103.88 at the close of trading on Thursday (5/2/2026).

The index decline occurred after the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released its annual economic growth report, which stated that Indonesia's economy grew by 5.11% (year-on-year) in 2025.

"Economic growth above 5% is certainly good for the market, but now the market is affected by global factors," said capital market practitioner, Hans Kwee, as reported by Antara (5/2/2026).

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 10 out of 11 stock sectors corrected today. The industrial sector fell the most by 1.35%, followed by the infrastructure and energy sectors, which each fell by 1.23% and 1.20%.

Meanwhile, only one stock sector strengthened, namely the primary consumer goods sector, which rose by 0.79%.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trading today was 2.55 million transactions, with a total of 35.99 billion shares changing hands, and a transaction value of Rp20.06 trillion.

A total of 349 stocks closed lower today, followed by 299 stocks that strengthened, and 172 stocks stagnated.

The issuer with the code MORA became the top loser after plummeting by 14.93%, followed by PIPA, which fell by 14.92%, and MINA, which plummeted by 14.86%.

Meanwhile, the top gainer today was CTTH, which soared by 34.48%, followed by NZIA and KOCI, which rose by 34.31% and 33.77% respectively.

Stock markets in the Asian region closed with mixed results this afternoon. The Nikkei Index fell by 0.88% to 53,818.04; the Hang Seng Index rose by 0.14% to 26,885.24; the Shanghai Index fell by 0.64% to 4,075.92; and the Strait Times Index rose by 0.21% to 4,975.87.
