The JCI's Strengthening Trend Continues (Tuesday, January 20, 2026)

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) or IHSG rose 0.01% to 9,134.70 at the close of trading on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).

This marks its fifth consecutive gain since last Tuesday (January 13, 2026).

"The JCI continued its strengthening amidst the potential momentum of the January Effect. On the other hand, market players are starting to position themselves ahead of Bank Indonesia's (BI) benchmark interest rate decision," said the research team of Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, as reported by Antara.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 9 out of 11 stock sectors strengthened today. The raw materials sector led with a gain of up to 2.49%, followed by the non-primary consumer goods sector and the industrial sector, which rose 2.08% and 1.86% respectively.

Meanwhile, the other two sectors corrected, namely the transportation sector and the energy sector, which fell 0.63% and 0.32% respectively.

According to RTI Business data, domestic stock trading frequency today reached 3.94 million transactions. A total of 72.41 billion shares changed hands with a total transaction value of Rp29.78 trillion.

A total of 336 stocks closed higher today, while 323 stocks weakened, and 143 stocks remained stagnant.

Today's top gaining issuers were TOSK, which soared 34.85%, followed by BAIK and AWAN, which strengthened 34.69% and 34.50% respectively.

On the other hand, the issuer coded POLU became the top loser after falling 14.98%, followed by INOV and CRAB, which corrected 14.63% and 14.55% respectively.

Unlike the JCI, all Asian stock exchanges uniformly weakened this afternoon. The Nikkei index fell 1.11% to 52,991.10; the Hang Seng index fell 0.29% to 26,487.51; the Shanghai index fell 0.01% to 4,113.65; and the Strait Times index fell 0.14% to 4,828.
