IDX Down Despite Many Stocks Strengthening (Tuesday, August 19, 2025)

The IDX Composite (IHSG) closed down 0.45% at 7,862.95 on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).

According to RTI Business data, 405 stocks closed higher today, 242 stocks weakened, and 155 stocks were stagnant.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 7 sectors strengthened today. The industrial sector led with a 1.85% increase, followed by the transportation and logistics sector, which strengthened by 1.44%, and the health sector, which rose by 1.41%.

Meanwhile, 4 sectors weakened. The infrastructure sector fell the most, by 0.54%, followed by the technology sector, which weakened by 0.47%, and the finance and non-primary consumer goods sectors, which fell by 0.21% each.

The frequency of domestic stock trading today reached 2.17 million transactions. A total of 39.48 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp 18.54 trillion.

Today's top gainer was BEER, which soared by 35%, followed by KBLV, which strengthened by 34.85%, and MAYA, which rose by 34.72%.

On the other hand, INPP was the top loser after plunging 13.27%, followed by ZYRX and AREA, which corrected by 7.87% and 7.20%, respectively.

Asian markets were also generally sluggish today. The Nikkei index weakened by 0.38% to 43,546.29; the Hang Seng index weakened by 0.21% to 25,122.90; the Shanghai index weakened by 0.02% to 3,727.29; while the Straits Times index strengthened by 0.69% to 4,216.19.
