Here are the top 3 most profitable banks in 2021: Who's the champion?

The easing of the Covid-19 pandemic and the relaxation of social activities have stimulated the domestic economy. As a result, three banks recorded the highest profits, reaching tens of trillions of Rupiah in 2021.

The following banks recorded the highest profits throughout 2021:

1. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) recorded a net profit attributable to owners of Rp 31.42 trillion throughout 2021. This figure grew by 15.82% compared to the previous year and is the highest compared to the other two large banks, as shown in the graph.

2. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BBRI managed to reap a net profit attributable to owners of Rp 31.07 trillion throughout last year. This figure surged by 66.53% compared to the previous year's achievement. However, this figure is still lower than the achievement in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.

3. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk or BMRI achieved a net profit attributable to owners of Rp 28.03 trillion in 2021. This figure grew by 63.72% compared to the previous year and is higher than the pre-Covid-19 pandemic figure of Rp 27.48 trillion.

These three banks with the highest profits experienced a decline in profits at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. BRI's profit plummeted by 45.73% to Rp 18.65 trillion in 2020. Similarly, BMRI's profit fell by 37.71% to Rp 17.12 trillion, and BCA's profit decreased by 5.02% to Rp 27.13 trillion.
