Indonesian stock market (IHSG) closes higher, awaiting Indonesia-US negotiations (Thursday, April 17, 2025)

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose 0.60% to close at 6,438.27 on Thursday (April 17, 2025).

This strengthening occurred while market players awaited the outcome of negotiations between the Indonesian and United States governments regarding import tariffs.

"The market is anticipating the results or developments in the negotiation process between Indonesia and the US," said Valdy Kurniawan, Senior Equity Research Analyst at Phintraco Sekuritas, as reported by *Antara* on Thursday (April 17, 2025).

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 9 out of 11 stock sectors strengthened today. The basic materials sector led with a 2.76% increase, followed by the infrastructure and property sectors, which rose 2.62% and 1.29%, respectively.

Meanwhile, two sectors weakened: the non-primary consumer goods sector and the industrial sector, which corrected by 0.45% and 0.26%, respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of domestic stock trades today reached 1.15 million transactions.

A total of 15.84 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp 9.76 trillion.

324 stocks closed higher today, 267 stocks weakened, and 214 stocks were stagnant.

Today's top gainer was CENT, which soared 34.83%, followed by NASI and FMII, which rose 34.43% and 24.83%, respectively.

On the other hand, the stock with the code LION became the top loser after plunging 12.97%, followed by DOSS and BOAT, which corrected by 11.95% and 10.32%, respectively.

In line with the JCI, Asian markets this afternoon collectively closed in the green. The Nikkei index rose 1.35% to 34,337.60; the Hang Seng index rose 1.61% to 21,395.14; the Shanghai index rose 0.13% to 3,280.34; and the Straits Times index rose 1.58% to 3,720.33.
