Indonesia's Monthly Stock Trading Volume Trend until Early 2025

Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data processed by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows that the monthly volume of share transactions in Indonesia fluctuates significantly.

Databoks compiled data from the last five years. In 2020, the transaction volume exceeded 122 billion shares. Only in December 2020 did the volume surge significantly to 523 billion shares.

The following year, in 2021, the volume of share transactions increased, with a minimum of over 280 billion shares traded.

In 2022, the volume of share transactions reached 649 billion shares in September 2022. This was the highest figure in the last four years.

Subsequently, in 2023, over 200 billion shares were traded. Following the pattern of previous years, the transaction volume increased significantly at the end of the year, reaching 520 billion shares in December 2023.

In 2024, there was an increase, with transaction volumes exceeding 300 billion shares. Interestingly, at the end of that year, the transaction volume was not as high as in previous years, reaching only 402 billion shares.

The latest data, from the beginning of 2025, recorded 339 billion shares in January and 384 billion shares in February.

Volume refers to the number of share lots traded in the market during a given period, according to poems.co.id from Phillip Sekuritas Indonesia. A large volume indicates that the shares are in high demand by investors, or in other words, the shares are liquid.
