PT Fast Food Indonesia Tbk (FAST), the franchisee of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), reported a net loss attributable to the parent entity of Rp558.75 billion in the third quarter of 2024.

This loss surged 266.58% year-on-year (yoy) from Rp152.42 billion in the same period last year.

In line with this, the revenue of the FAST-coded issuer also shrank by 22.28% to Rp3.59 trillion. This decline occurred across all of FAST's revenue segments.

Specifically, revenue from food and beverages decreased by 22.32% (yoy) to Rp3.57 billion, commission on sales fell by 10.96% (yoy) to Rp15.36 billion, and delivery services dropped by 31.67% (yoy) to Rp1.41 billion.

Due to the revenue decline, the number of restaurants operated by the company decreased from 762 outlets in December 2023 to 715 outlets in September 2024.

Meanwhile, the number of KFC Indonesia employees and its subsidiaries also decreased. In December 2023, FAST had 15,989 employees, which reduced to 13,715 employees in September 2024.

Management acknowledged contributing factors to the losses and employee reduction, such as the lingering effects of Covid-19 and an alleged boycott due to the conflict in the Middle East.
