Composite Index Soars Past 328 at the Start of the Week (Monday, September 6th)

Investors continued to buy domestic debt at the beginning of the week, September 6, 2021. This buying activity pushed government bond prices higher, in line with the strengthening Indonesian Rupiah, which approached the 14,000 level per US dollar.

According to data from the Indonesian Capital Market Supervisory Board (Bapepam-LK), the Indonesia Composite Bond Index (ICBI) closed up 0.1509 points (0.05%) to 328.0576 on Monday, September 6, 2021, compared to the previous weekend's closing.

Specifically, the INDOBeX Composite Clean Price Index closed up 0.0377 points (0.03%) to 121.2037. Meanwhile, the INDOBeX Effective Yield Index fell 0.0036 points (0.06%) to 5.8266.

On the other hand, the INDOBeX Government Total Return Index rose 0.1589 points (0.05%) to 321.7849. Meanwhile, the INDOBeX Corporate Total Return Index fell 0.003 points (0.00%) to 357.6595.

Quoting Bloomberg data, the Rupiah strengthened by Rp 40 points (0.28%) to Rp 14,222.5 per US dollar at the beginning of the week. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange closed slightly up 0.02 points to 6,126.24 from the previous weekend's closing.
