Indonesia's State Bonds (Surat Berharga Negara or SBN) market has experienced continuous capital outflow of foreign capital during the January-September 2022 period.

According to data from the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR), as of January 3, 2022, foreign/non-resident ownership of tradable rupiah-denominated SBNs amounted to Rp893.6 trillion.

However, since the end of February 2022, immediately after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, the trend of foreign ownership in the SBN market has continuously declined, as shown in the graph.

As of September 22, 2022, foreign ownership in the SBN market was recorded at only Rp743.23 trillion, a decrease of approximately Rp150 trillion compared to the beginning of the year.

"The weakening conditions in the state's finances, various countries with high inflation, tightening of interest rates or monetary policy, will certainly weaken global economic growth. The combination of a weakening global economy and persistently high inflation is a very complex and dangerous combination for policymakers and for the economy," she added.
