Crude Palm Oil (CPO) Price on the Rotterdam Commodity Exchange Remains at US$1,400 per Metric Ton (Tuesday, July 5, 2022)

The price of CPO on the Rotterdam commodity exchange this morning until 09.09 WIB was US$1,400 per metric ton, as of Tuesday, July 5, 2022. This represents a -5.41% decrease compared to the closing price on Sunday, July 3, 2022, which was US$1,480 per metric ton. The CPO price on the Rotterdam commodity exchange is expected to remain in the range of US$1,400 - US$1,400 per metric ton today.

According to investing.com, the CPO price on the Rotterdam commodity exchange has fallen by 3.45% in the past week. Compared to 30 days prior, the price is down -17.65%.

Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the CPO price on the Rotterdam spot market was at US$1,640 per ton (February 23, 2022). Following the invasion, the CPO price surged for two weeks.

Compared to the end of last year, when it stood at US$1,305 per ton, the price of palm oil has increased by 7.28% (Year to Date/YTD). Similarly, compared to its lowest point on June 16, 2021, the CPO price has surged by 43.59%.

The increase in CPO prices has also impacted cooking oil prices in Indonesia. Cooking oil prices in various regions are above Rp 20,000 per liter. There were even periods of cooking oil shortages in the market.

However, over the past year, CPO prices on the Rotterdam commodity exchange have actually decreased. The previous record high reached US$2,010 per metric ton.

For the period January-July 2022, the CPO price on the Rotterdam commodity exchange has steadily increased, rising by 6.06% compared to the beginning of the year, which stood at US$1,320 per metric ton.
