As the fasting month approaches, the prices of several commodities tend to increase, one of which is broiler chicken. The weakening of the rupiah exchange rate, impacting the high price of feed and the beginning scarcity of stock in the market, has caused the price of broiler chicken to rise to over Rp 44,000/kg.
The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) recorded the average price of chicken in Jambi reaching Rp 44,650/kg, the highest compared to other regions. The second highest chicken price was in Bangka Belitung Islands at Rp 44,500/kg, and the third highest in West Sumatra at Rp 44,500/kg.
Meanwhile, the cheapest chicken price was Rp 27,150/kg in South Sulawesi. The price of chicken in Jakarta was Rp 37,750/kg. The national average price of chicken increased by Rp 2,000/kg during the period of May 2-14, 2018. In Jambi, the average price increase for chicken reached Rp 7,000/kg.
