Bond Composite Index Closes Down at 342.622 Amid Profit-Taking (Thursday, August 5, 2021)

Investors took profits following recent price increases in the bond market, resulting in a correction in bond prices. Investors are now more focused on monitoring the Covid-19 situation after the release of improved economic growth data.

The Indonesia Composite Bond Index (ICBI) by the Indonesian Capital Market Supervisory Board (Bapepam-LK) closed down 0.0961 points (0.03%) at 324.622 on Thursday, August 8, 2021, compared to the previous day's closing. The INDOBeX Composite Clean Price Index closed down 0.0596 points (0.05%) from the previous day's close. Meanwhile, the INDOBeX Composite Effective Yield Index rose 0.0112 points (0.19%) to 5.904 from the previous close.

The INDOBeX Government Total Return Bond Index also closed down 0.094 points (0.03%) to 318.3768. Similarly, the INDOBeX Corporate Total Return Bond Index weakened by 0.1089 points (0.03%) to 354.4733.

Meanwhile, the benchmark government bond FR0086 (4.7-year tenor) closed down 0.2555 points (0.25%) to 101.6%, while its yield rose 0.061 points (1.21%) to 5.1103%. Similarly, the benchmark government bond FR0087 (9.54-year tenor) fell 0.1212 points (0.12%) to 101.7476%, while its yield rose 0.0169 points (0.27%) to 6.2534%.

Citing Bloomberg data, the rupiah exchange rate closed weaker by Rp 30 (0.2%) per US dollar to Rp 14,342.5 per US dollar compared to the previous day's close. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed up again by 46.38 points (0.75%) to 6,205.42 from the previous close.
