In 2017, the Government Targeted the Completion of 782 Subsidized Fishing Vessels for Fishermen.

The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), aims to complete the construction of 782 fishing vessels under its assistance program for fishermen by the end of 2017. Of this number, 151 vessels have been completed, 373 are in the final stages of completion, and 258 are targeted for completion by the end of this year.

In 2016, the realization of completed vessel construction assistance for fishermen reached 754 units. This comprised 371 vessels of 3 Gross Tonnage (GT), 185 units of 5 GT, 120 vessels of 10 GT, 60 vessels of 20 GT, and 18 vessels of 18 GT.

For information, in the KKP's 2016 Catch Fisheries Performance Reflection and 2017 outlook, the government targeted the construction of 1,719 vessels in 2016, but the realization was only 754 units. Meanwhile, for 2017, the target was 2,090 units, but by the end of the year, it is estimated that only 782 units will be completed.
