Indonesia intends to develop its electric vehicle battery industry. This intention is partly outlined in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 7 of 2022, issued by President Jokowi in mid-September 2022.

Indonesia is not listed as having graphite resources in the USGS report. This highlights the need for Indonesia to cooperate with other countries to develop its domestic electric vehicle battery industry.

The USGS also reports that automotive companies in the United States are currently developing large-scale electric vehicle battery companies. Once completed, these companies are projected to absorb 35,200 tons of graphite per year.
