Top 10 Beer-Drinking Countries in the World

According to a report by Japanese alcoholic beverage producer Kirin Holdings, global beer consumption reached 192 million kiloliters (kl) in 2022, a 2.9% increase compared to 2021.

Kirin Holdings attributes this increase to the post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

In 2022, China was recorded as the largest beer-consuming country with a volume of 42 million kl, equivalent to 21.9% of total global consumption.

"China has remained the world's largest beer-consuming country for 20 consecutive years," wrote Kirin Holdings in its report.

Second place went to the United States, which consumed 20 million kl of beer, equivalent to 10.6% of total global consumption.

This was followed by Brazil with consumption of approximately 14 million kl, Mexico with 9 million kl, and Russia with 8 million kl.

Other countries in the top 10 include Germany, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Japan, with beer consumption volumes as shown in the attached graph.
