Corporate Loans Record Highest Restructuring in Q2 2021

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded corporate loan restructuring worth Rp 355.01 trillion in the second quarter of 2021. This figure surged 76.17% year-on-year (yoy) compared to Rp 201.52 trillion in the second quarter of 2020.

This restructuring value reached 17.87% of total corporate loans in the second half of the year, the highest among all segments.

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) recorded loan restructuring worth Rp 345.73 trillion in the second quarter of 2021, down 1.64% yoy. This restructuring value amounted to 31.28% of total MSME loans.

Commercial loans recorded restructuring worth Rp 188.2 trillion in the second quarter of 2021, up 2.02% yoy. This restructuring value reached 20.42% of total commercial loans.

Meanwhile, consumer loan restructuring increased by 32.11% (yoy) to Rp 177.22 trillion in the second quarter of 2021. This restructuring value reached 11.31% of total consumer loans.

In total, banking loan restructuring reached Rp 1,066.16 trillion in the second quarter of 2021, growing 22.32% yoy. This restructuring value amounted to 19.1% of total disbursed bank loans.

Loan restructuring increased in line with the surge in the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio. In the second quarter of 2021, the gross NPL ratio for bank loans rose to 3.24%. Similarly, bank credit risk increased to 22.66%.
