"The Hunger Games" Prequel Released: Which Film in the Series Made the Most Money?

The prequel to *The Hunger Games* trilogy, *The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes*, has been showing in Indonesia since October 15, 2023.

The film is set 64 years before the adventures of the main character, Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), begin. It reveals the youth of President Snow and the creation of the Hunger Games competition.

According to data compiled by The Numbers, the film had grossed US$98.5 million, or Rp1.52 trillion (assuming Rp15,444 per US$), just four days after its release.

However, this revenue has not yet matched the earnings of other *Hunger Games* films. To date, the second film, *The Hunger Games: Catching Fire* (2013), holds the highest international box office revenue, at US$864.8 million, or Rp13.35 trillion.

*The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1* (2014) is second with US$766.57 million, or Rp11.83 trillion.

The first film, *The Hunger Games* (2012), follows in third place with US$677.9 million, or approximately Rp10.46 trillion.

The total revenue for all films adapted from Suzanne Collins' novels is estimated at US$3.05 billion, or approximately Rp47.16 trillion, up to 2023.
