Public Deposits in Banks Grew by 1.3% in August 2021

Public deposits in banks are growing. The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) recorded Third-Party Funds (TPF) amounting to Rp 7,042.64 trillion in August 2021. This figure increased by 1.33% from the previous month and rose by 8.2% compared to August of the previous year.

Meanwhile, deposits from other banks decreased by 7.67% month-on-month or 17.95% year-on-year to Rp 83.24 trillion. Therefore, total deposits in commercial banks reached Rp 7,125.8 trillion.

Based on deposit type, deposits dominated the total deposits, reaching Rp 2,854 trillion, savings accounts reached Rp 2,276 trillion, and current accounts reached Rp 1,937 trillion. Other deposits include deposit on call amounting to Rp 56 trillion and certificates of deposit reaching Rp 1 trillion.

The total deposits were mostly held in private national banks and government banks, amounting to Rp 3,051 trillion and Rp 3,002 trillion, respectively. Rp 656 trillion were held in Regional Development Banks (BPDs), Rp 223.4 trillion in foreign banks, and Rp 193 trillion in mixed banks.

Furthermore, the total deposits recorded by LPS in August 2021 increased by 1.23% from July 2021. In fact, it increased by 7.9% compared to the same month last year.
