At the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk held on March 16, 2017, a dividend distribution of 35 percent, or Rp 3.97 trillion, from a total net profit of Rp 11.34 trillion was proposed for the 2016 fiscal year. This dividend payout for the government-owned bank surged 75 percent from the previous year, which reached only Rp 2.98 trillion. Similarly, the dividend distribution portion was also higher than the previous year's 25 percent.
The proposed profit distribution for BNI shareholders consisted of a 25 percent cash dividend of net profit, or Rp 2.83 trillion, and Rp 1.13 trillion in special dividends. Meanwhile, 65 percent of the company's net profit, or Rp 7.37 trillion, was allocated to retained earnings.
Furthermore, the BNI AGM also approved a restructuring of the board of directors and commissioners. Herry Sidharta was appointed as Deputy President Director, replacing Suprajarto, who is now the President Director of PT Bank BRI.
