According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), throughout 2023 Indonesia exported combat vehicles and their parts with a total weight of 635,700 tons, a 410% increase compared to 2022 (year-on-year/yoy).
However, the export value of these products weakened by 18.5% (yoy) to US$1.26 billion, the lowest in the last five years.
BPS recorded that in 2023 Indonesia exported combat vehicles and their parts to approximately 100 countries.
The main buyer was the Philippines with a transaction value of US$387.35 million, equivalent to 30.7% of the total value of national combat vehicle exports.
Other countries that purchased a significant amount of similar products from Indonesia include Vietnam (US$121.03 million) and Thailand (US$119.86 million).
The export value of Indonesian combat vehicles appears to be relatively small on a global scale.
According to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), large arms and combat vehicle companies can record sales worth tens of billions of dollars per year.
