Electronic Money Transactions in Indonesia Reach Rp1.5 Quadrillion in the H1 2025

According to a Bank Indonesia (BI) report, the value of electronic money (e-money) transactions during the January-June period, or the first half of 2025, reached Rp1.52 quadrillion.

This figure grew by 30.19% compared to the first half of the previous year (year-on-year/YoY). The transaction volume in the first half of 2025 also surged by 43.4% (YoY) to 14.59 billion transactions.

The following details the types of electronic money transactions in Indonesia throughout the first half of 2025:

• Reload/top up: Rp762.93 trillion
• Spending: Rp439.22 trillion
• Inter-electronic money transfers: Rp295.24 trillion
• Redeem: Rp10.77 trillion
• Initial (first-time loading): Rp7.11 trillion
• Cash withdrawal: Rp5.34 trillion

As of June 2025, the number of electronic money instruments reached 985.28 million units. The breakdown by storage media is as follows:

• Server-based: 865.27 million units
• Chip-based: 120.02 million units

The following is the number of electronic money instruments based on registration status as of June 2025:

• Unregistered: 765.59 million units
• Registered: 219.70 million units

Finally, here is the breakdown of float funds (electronic money that remains a liability of the issuer to the holder and merchant) as of June 2025:

• Non-bank electronic money issuers: Rp10.17 trillion
• Bank electronic money issuers: Rp4.69 trillion
