Electronic money (e-money) is increasingly dominating cashless transactions in Indonesia.
This is reflected in the increasing value of purchases using electronic money, compared to purchases using credit cards or ATM and debit cards.
Based on data from Bank Indonesia (BI), in June 2025, the value of transactions using electronic money in Indonesia reached Rp81.4 trillion.
Meanwhile, the value of transactions using credit cards was Rp37.96 trillion, and ATM and debit cards was Rp41.94 trillion.
The trend of shopping using electronic money has surpassed payments with cards since May 2024 and continued to increase in the first half of 2025, as shown in the graph.
Cumulatively, in the first half of 2025, the value of transactions using electronic money in Indonesia reached Rp439.22 trillion, growing 64.89% compared to the first half of 2024 (cumulative-to-cumulative/ctc).
In the same period, transactions using credit cards only grew 6.13% (ctc) to Rp218.72 trillion, while ATM and debit card transactions decreased by 0.63% (ctc) to Rp265.57 trillion.

- February 2025: 1.25 billion transactions
