Populix conducted a survey on the most commonly used financial management applications among Generation Z and Millennials in Indonesia.

The results showed that the majority, or 53% of respondents, chose digital wallets or e-wallets to manage their finances. This was followed by those who relied on mobile banking (40%) and digital banks (24%).

Some respondents also managed their finances through investment or trading apps (9%), manual tracking using spreadsheets (9%), and financial planning apps (5%). Meanwhile, 7% of respondents still used manual methods by recording expenses on paper.

The survey also found that 67% of Gen Z and millennial respondents turn to social media as a source of financial literacy.

Many young Indonesians also learn about finance through consultations with more knowledgeable family or friends (29%), financial articles (23%), and investment communities (12%).

Populix conducted the online survey from February 20–25, 2025, involving 1,100 respondents across Indonesia. The majority of respondents were located in Java (77%), followed by Sumatra (14%) and other islands (9%). Respondents consisted of an equal split between Gen Z (ages 18–28) and Millennials (ages 29–44).
