According to a Snapcart survey, 44% of Indonesian respondents chose a combination of cash and cashless payments, or a hybrid approach, as their preferred method for daily purchases.
38% relied solely on cash, while 14% had fully transitioned to cashless payments. A further 5% used all payment methods without a specific preference.
"This finding suggests that while the use of digital payments is growing, cash still plays a vital role in everyday transactions," Snapcart stated in its Cash or Cashless report.
When analyzed by age group, Generation Z and Millennials favored the hybrid payment method, with proportions of 43% and 45% respectively.
Respondents aged 60 and above, however, predominantly (43%) opted for cash payments.
"These patterns suggest that adoption is not solely driven by age, but by financial responsibility, access, and consumer confidence," Snapcart noted.
Snapcart conducted this online survey in May 2025, involving 4,991 respondents across Indonesia.
