There were 150 Insurance Companies in Indonesia in 2022: Here are their Types

Based on data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) processed by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), there were 150 insurance companies in Indonesia in 2022.

The number increased by only one company from the previous year. Previous years also showed a stagnant trend.

General insurance companies were the most dominant type, with 78 companies in 2022. This figure increased by one company from 2021.

Next are life insurance companies, numbering 59 companies, an increase of one company from the previous year.

Other types of insurance companies include reinsurance companies, of which only 8 exist in Indonesia. This number increased by one company from 2021, which recorded 7 companies.

Then, for insurance providers for civil servants and the TNI/Polri (Indonesian National Armed Forces/National Police), there are only 3 in Indonesia. There are also 2 companies providing social insurance and labor social security programs as of 2022.

From these figures, there are a further 4,178 insurance offices spread throughout Indonesia. Insurance offices include head offices, branch offices, marketing offices, and other supporting offices.

Jakarta became the region with the highest number of insurance offices, with 608 offices in 2022. This was followed by East Java and West Java with 499 and 477 offices respectively.
