Prudential, Indonesia's Most Widely Used Private Health Insurance Provider

A Populix survey shows that health insurance is the most widely held type of private insurance in Indonesia, accounting for 80% of the market.

"Health insurance is largely purchased due to its comprehensive benefits," according to the Populix report.

Populix cites several benefits of health insurance, including daily hospital inpatient benefits, critical illness coverage, family health insurance, and following agent recommendations.

The survey notes that Prudential is the most widely used private health insurance provider in Indonesia, with a 52% market share.

Manulife ranks second with a 21% market share, followed by AIA and Allianz, each with 20%.

The Populix survey also indicates that the majority of Indonesians prefer to pay their health insurance premiums monthly (68%), compared to annually (32%).

This survey was conducted via the Populix app from January 6-7, 2023, involving 1,041 respondents aged 18-55 across Indonesia. The majority of respondents were employed individuals from the middle-class economic bracket.
