These Countries Are Covered by the World's Tallest Forests

Forests play a crucial role in maintaining life on Earth. They act as carbon sinks, regulate climate, and provide habitats for numerous animals and plants. In fact, 31% of the Earth's landmass is covered by forests, one-third of which are primary forests.

Suriname has the highest forest cover, at 98%. This means that 98% of its land area is dominated by forest cover. Low population density and industrial activity have allowed Suriname's forest cover to remain well-preserved.

Besides Suriname, Guyana has a forest cover of 94%. Deforestation rates in Guyana are very low due to its low population. Some parts of Guyana's forests are almost inaccessible to humans.

The Federated States of Micronesia follows with 92% forest cover. The preservation of its forests is due to the efforts of organizations such as The Conservation Society of Pohnpei (CSP). This organization actively promotes sustainable development and raises public awareness about the dangers of deforestation.

CSP also teaches farmers more effective techniques for lowland farming and provides seedlings to farmers who want to start farming in lowlands. This initiative has proven to reduce the clearing of land in highlands by 70%.
