Earthquake Information September 28, 2023, Southeast of Sanana, Buru; Magnitude 4.6, No Tsunami Potential

A recent earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude struck southeast of Sanana, Buru, on September 28, 2023. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) release, the earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea approximately 90 kilometers southeast of Sanana, Buru.

"Earthquake felt, Magnitude: 4.6 on September 28, 2023, 09:05:40," BMKG wrote in its release. The earthquake occurred at coordinates 2.66°S (South Latitude) and 126.52°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale in several areas, including Sanana, with an intensity of II. An MMI scale of II means the earthquake was not felt by most people or was felt only by a few, but was recorded by instruments.
