According to the Ministry of Environment (KLH) report, Indonesia's waste generation in 2025 amounted to 20.25 million tons, a decrease of 43.6% compared to the previous year (year-on-year/yoy).
This decrease occurred after three years of an upward trend. Notably, the decrease is due to a reduction in the number of regencies/cities reporting waste data.
In 2024, waste generation data came from 331 regencies/cities, while in 2025, it came from 206 regencies/cities.
As shown in the graph, during 2019-2025, the highest waste generation occurred in 2024, reaching 35.9 million tons.
