The Number of Indonesia's Forestry Conservation Areas Increased in 2024

According to the Ministry of Forestry, the number of forestry conservation areas in Indonesia in 2024 totaled 573 units, an increase of 1.60% compared to 564 units in 2023.

This total is the accumulation of conservation areas designated as nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, nature tourism parks, grand forest parks, hunting parks, and nature conservation areas (KSA)/nature preservation areas (KPA).

The number of conservation areas in 2024 is the highest during the 2020-2024 period.

The following are the details of forestry conservation areas in Indonesia for the 2020-2024 period, quoted from the 2024 Ministry of Forestry Statistics report:

• Nature reserve: 212 units
• Wildlife sanctuary: 80 units
• National park: 54 units
• Nature tourism park: 133 units
• Grand forest park: 36 units
• Hunting park: 11 units
• KSA/KPA: 34 units
• Total: 560 units

2021

• Nature reserve: 214 units
• Wildlife sanctuary: 80 units
• National park: 54 units
• Nature tourism park: 130 units
• Grand forest park: 39 units
• Hunting park: 11 units
• KSA/KPA: 40 units
• Total: 568 units

2022

• Nature reserve: 214 units
• Wildlife sanctuary: 80 units
• National park: 54 units
• Nature tourism Park: 130 units
• Grand forest park: 39 units

2023

• Nature reserve: 213 units
