Based on data from Magma Indonesia of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), there have been 4,525 eruptions from active volcanoes in Indonesia from the beginning of the year until 1:35 PM WIB on June 20, 2025.
Mount Semeru is recorded as the volcano with the most eruptions during this period, with a total of 1,884 eruptions.
This volcano, located in East Java, just erupted volcanic ash on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 12:06 PM WIB.
However, the visual observation of the eruption height was not possible until the eruption was reported. The eruption was monitored on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 23 millimeters and a duration of 126 seconds.
Magma Indonesia recommends that the public not carry out any activities along Besuk Kobokan, or within 8 kilometers of the eruption's peak.
"Beyond that distance, the public should not carry out activities within 500 meters of the riverbank (river buffer zone) along Besuk Kobokan due to the potential for the spread of pyroclastic flows and lahars up to 13 kilometers from the peak," wrote Magma Indonesia in its report.
