The Deadliest Earthquakes in the World Since 2000: Indonesia Has the Highest Number

The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6, 2023, continues to rise. The latest data from Reuters states that the total number of victims from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake has exceeded 7,800 as of February 8, 2023.

Rescue teams are working against the clock and harsh winter conditions to clear debris and find survivors. The widespread scale of the disaster means the death toll is expected to increase significantly.
