The ESG issues that most attract investor interest in Indonesia are environmental issues, while social issues such as poverty and gender equality are less favored, as shown in the graph.

"The environmental term is the most important factor in ESG investment, because individual investors are generally familiar with issues such as climate change and air pollution," said the Mandiri Institute team.

"89% of investors will invest in ESG if the risk is low. 57% are also willing to accept a lower investment return from ESG instruments," they continued.

This survey was conducted by Mandiri Institute on 309 respondents from among individual investors in Indonesia. However, only 1 in 4 respondents had already invested in ESG instruments.
