Earthquake Today, April 19, 2023, Shakes North Bengkulu

A 4.4 magnitude (M) earthquake struck North Bengkulu. The epicenter was at sea. "The earthquake's epicenter was located 54 km southwest of North Bengkulu, and this earthquake is felt and should be relayed to the public," wrote BMKG (Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency) on its official website, April 19, 2023.

The earthquake occurred at 22:39:31. It had a depth of 18 kilometers and posed no tsunami threat. The earthquake's coordinates were 3.79°S (South Latitude) and 101.86°E (East Longitude).

The earthquake was felt on the MMI scale in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu, and Bengkulu with intensities of II-III, II-III, and II-III, respectively. An MMI scale of III means the earthquake was felt by several people but caused no damage or accidents. Light hanging objects swayed, and glass windows vibrated.
