According to a report by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Indonesia's installed capacity of renewable energy (EBT) power plants reached 13,155 megawatts (MW) in 2023.

The largest capacity came from hydropower, namely 6,784.2 MW or 51.6% of the total installed capacity of the national EBT power plants.

The following is a complete list of the realized installed capacity of EBT power plants in 2023 by energy source:

* Hydropower plants: 6,784.2 MW
* Bioenergy power plants: 3,195.4 MW
* Geothermal power plants: 2,417.7 MW
* Solar power plants: 573.8 MW
* Wind power plants: 154.3 MW
* Coal gas power plants: 30 MW

With this achievement, the EBT mix in national primary energy is only 13.1%, not yet reaching the 2023 target of at least 17.9%.

The Acting Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of ESDM, Jisman P. Hutajulu, stated that the government will continue to be committed to increasing the mix.

"Increasing the utilization of EBTKE is the government's effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and maintain environmental sustainability," said Jisman in a press conference on Thursday (18/1/2024).
