Net profit grew 39.3% to Rp 5.95 trillion in 2020.

State Electricity Company (Persero) or PLN recorded a net profit of Rp 5.95 trillion in 2020. This figure increased by 39.3% from the previous year, which was Rp 4.27 trillion in 2019.

According to PLN President Director Zulkifli Zaini, the electricity company's profit was boosted by efficiency during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Efficiency applied to technical and operational aspects, as well as innovations within the PLN Transformation Program which has been ongoing since April 2020.

However, the state-owned company's operating revenue decreased by 3.95%, equivalent to Rp 14.19 trillion. It fell from Rp 359.6 trillion in 2019 to Rp 345.41 trillion last year.

Of that amount, electricity sales revenue decreased by 0.42% to Rp 274.9 trillion. Subsidy revenue was recorded at Rp 48 trillion, reaching 37 million customers. Separately, compensation amounted to Rp 17.9 trillion for 42 million customers.
