In September 2022, fuel prices in Indonesia generally decreased, in line with the global decline in oil prices.
Previously, from March to July 2022, Shell fuel prices showed an upward trend. However, from August to September 2022, prices fell, as shown in the graph.
Here's a breakdown of the latest Shell fuel prices as of September 1, 2022 (Jakarta prices):
* Shell Super (RON 90): Rp15,420/liter
* Shell V-Power (RON 95): Rp16,130/liter
* Shell V-Power Nitro+ (RON 98): Rp16,510/liter
* Shell V-Power Diesel (CN 51): Rp18,310/liter
This downward price trend was also observed at other gas stations, such as Vivo and BP-AKR. In early September 2022, Pertamina also lowered the prices of its non-subsidized fuels, namely Pertamina Dex, Dexlite, and Pertamax Turbo.
According to Wahyu Utomo, Acting Head of the Center for State Revenue and Expenditure Policy at the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Finance, this fuel price decrease does not necessarily affect the state's subsidy budget.
"The current decline in oil prices does not necessarily reduce subsidy and compensation payments; it depends on other variables as well," said Wahyu, as reported by *Katadata.co.id*, Thursday (1/9/2022).
According to Wahyu, payments for energy subsidies and compensation are not only influenced by oil prices but also by exchange rates and consumption volume.
