Indonesia's biodiesel absorption increased to 833,000 kiloliters in September 2021.

The Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that Indonesia's biodiesel absorption reached 833,197 kiloliters (kl) in September 2021.

From January to September 2021, the highest absorption occurred in June, reaching 867,458 kl. This amount was even higher than the average monthly biodiesel absorption allocation of 766,667 kl. The lowest absorption was recorded at only 555,611 kl in January 2021.

Nationally, Indonesia's biodiesel absorption had reached 6.65 million kl by October 2021. This means that national biodiesel absorption had reached 72.17% of the 9.2 million kl target for 2021.

Meanwhile, domestic biodiesel absorption reached 8.4 million kl in 2020. This achievement reached 87.96% of the allocation set by the Ministry of ESDM at 9.55 million kl.

With the B30 Mandatory Program, all diesel fuel in Indonesia is required to have at least a 30% biodiesel and 70% solar blend. In 2022, the government also plans to increase the biodiesel content to B40.
