"China received 48% of the total volume of oil imports that passed through the Strait of Malacca in the first half of 2025," said the EIA.

In addition to the Strait of Malacca, other important waterways in global oil trade include the Strait of Hormuz, Cape of Good Hope, the Suez Canal, the Danish Straits, the Bab el-Mandeb, the Turkish Straits, and the Panama Canal, with supply volumes as shown in the chart.
