According to a report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2025, Indonesia imported 17.58 million tons of crude oil and 37.75 million tons of oil products.
Crude oil is unprocessed petroleum extracted from the ground.
Oil products, on the other hand, are petroleum that has been processed into fuel such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, lubricating oil, and various other derivative products.
In 2025, Indonesia's crude oil import volume increased by 4.3% compared to the previous year (year-on-year/yoy).
Then, Indonesia's oil product import volume rose by 2.3% (yoy), reaching a record high in the last 14 years.
During the period 2012-2025, Indonesia has always imported more oil products than crude oil, as shown in the graph.
