According to data from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), global crude oil production reached 73 million barrels per day in 2023.
The United States was the largest crude oil producer, with production of almost 13 million barrels per day.
Other countries in the top 10 largest oil producers include Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, Iraq, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Kuwait, and Norway.
Following these are Mexico, Kazakhstan, Canada, Libya, and Nigeria, with daily production as shown in the graph.
Combined, these 15 countries controlled 83% of total global crude oil production in 2023.
Indonesia ranked 25th with a production volume of 540,000 barrels per day, only 0.7% of total global production.
