Pertamina Predicts Millions Will Utilize Renewable Energy by 2050

Pertamina has outlined Indonesia's renewable energy transition projections across three scenarios: Business as Usual (BAU), Market Driven (MD), and Green Transition (GT). The projected widespread adoption of city gas and electric stoves is a key element across all scenarios.

In the BAU scenario, the penetration of energy transition technologies to reduce carbon emissions remains low, with coal continuing to dominate energy use. Consequently, only 10 million households are projected to utilize city gas by 2050, while only 1 million households will use electric stoves.

The MD scenario emphasizes the penetration of energy transition technologies, supported by policies related to emissions, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy (RE). Approximately 30 million households are projected to use city gas, and 6 million households will use electric stoves by 2050.

The GT scenario represents a high penetration of energy transition technologies. Various policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions ensure a significant shift in energy consumption. Similar to the MD scenario, 30 million households are projected to utilize city gas by 2050. However, electric stove adoption is projected to reach 25 million households.
